CARNEVALE! VENICE BEACH
2009
The colorful costumed festival,
inspired by the famed Italian Carnevale,
returns bigger and better than ever raising spirits and electrifying
Los Angeles audiences!

Carnevale!
Venice Beach 2009 is here again. In these distressed economic
times, how wonderful it is to enjoy a free festival that will lift
your spirits, bring smiles to your faces and much laughter to your
hearts.
Inspired by the famed Italian Carnevale,
this incredible flamboyant festival has been celebrated for the past
7 years and has become a true Venice Beach tradition. It is a
perfect match for such an artistic community. It brings together the
colors and colors of Venice Beach and is now attracting Californians
from all over who want to come join the party.

truly know how to put on a party. On June 6th, Venice
Carnevale! will once again be celebrated in Venice Beach.

As always there is a free costume
contest, as well as a whole line up of incredible local talent, arts
and craft booths with original clothing, jewelry and accessories.
There is something for everyone at
Carnevale! On the main stage there will be DJs, Dancing, Live music
and of course the famous Fiery Grand Finale which combines not only
a crowd please pulsing musical show, but also a visual spectacle to
include dancers, stilt walkers and pyrotechnic acts.
In
addition to the costume contest and performances, vendor booths will
also be set up for local merchants.”
As part of
the event, a poster contest, open to artists who live or work in
Venice, is currently underway to select a design which will be used
to promote the Carnevale. The winning entry will receive a $500
cash prize. “We look forward to reviewing all of the
wonderful and creative designs being submitted by Venice’s talented
and diverse artistic community,” says Ken Williams, Jr.
the Carnevale Committee member coordinating the poster competition.
Poster art, along with a $10 entry fee, must be submitted by May 1,
2009.
Carnevale!
is being presented in association with The Venice Chamber of
Commerce and will take place on Saturday June 6th
starting at Noon, at Venice Beach. Check out

the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and
the Venice Neighborhood Council.
